Wednesday, July 27, 2011PYRAMID BOOKCASE

Books were once confined to houses of the religious and the wealthy (remember they were hand written and therefore not cheap!). As a result the average home wasn’t in too much of a hurry to find somewhere to store them...

How times have changes (printing opened books up to the rest of the world) and in how many houses do we now see a bookcase – or two. Most of us own books and many of us hold them dear, we want them on display. Books lend their own unique flavour to a room – I think we all love to see books on display- they represent a personal reading history to us and often reflect our personalities. Books can be pieces of art in their own right – especially older collections, and really, if you care about your books you should care about where you keep them.

This week I wanted to highlight an item range that has been a great success for us – our pyramid bookcases. They are a really simple, striking design – and really come in to their own when their shelves are full. I’ve seen the effect these interesting pieces have on a space, and I’ve seen how versatile they are in terms of fitting in with both modern and more rustic settings. If you are after a slightly different style of bookcase make sure you keep these in mind, they are terrific alternative to the more standard designs.
