This week I thought I’d bring up the subject of glass (a recent customer was delighted when she discovered we could add glass inserts into the entertainment unit she was designing) it does have a very immediate impact on the overall aesthetic of a piece...
Glass has been around forever, it occurs naturally in nature (exquisite, green moldavite) and man-made glass dates back to the Copper Age - glass itself forms a such a large part of our lives, from the practical to purely artistic – think stain glass windows in ancient cathedrals, the art of glass blowing... Having said all that, it doesn’t mean we all have to love it, (how boring would it be if we all had the same taste!) but I think we can agree when glass is introduced into a design changes take place.
We specialise in timber, wood is the predominant feature in all our products but we do use glass, and when we do the product takes on different characteristics. When glass is introduced into a coffee table it lightens the piece dramatically, the same can be said for buffet units – doors with glass inserts take weight (visual) off the styling. If you’ve browsed our site and thought, ‘I like that design but wish there was a glass version...’ well in most cases there is. We are all about choices here and if you want glass on a bedside table, a coffee table, in the doors of an entertainment unit, on the sides of a display piece – we can make it. Take a look at some the designs below for inspiration.
