Seeing that Summer has well and truly started to flex its muscles, I’d thought this week I’d highlight another wonderful outdoor piece...
If you’ve been lucky enough to grab an exotic holiday of late you may well of had the pleasure of reclining in one of these monster day beds ( a cross between a chaise lounge, bed and couch), it comes as no surprise to learn that these magnificent pieces are also nicknamed ‘loveseats’. The sheer scale of them makes it impossible not to stretch out, kick back and unwind – whether you’re armed with a book, or cocktail, the relaxing nature of these wonderful designs makes them ideally suited to unburdening the stresses of the day.
The solid teak construct makes it ideal for handling the elements (we touched upon the waterproofing nature of teak last week) and although we have made modern variations of these designs, but I, for one, don’t think you can beat the rustic styling and intricate carvings of these stunning pieces when it comes to conjuring a sense of purpose – these day beds almost scream at you to come on board and take the weight off!
Brilliant for that space in the garden, porch or by the pool – these rare day beds are a real eye turner – and eye closer (after a cold drink or two!).
